In Disney’s live-action film “Beauty and the Beast,” Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman, is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince inside. The Beast’s Tale explores the Beast’s struggle as he tries to move on from his past and learn what it is to love.

3/5 Stars

The Beast’s Tale was cute but brief. It’s a manga retelling of Disney’s live action Beauty and the Beast from the Beast’s perspective. (And you know I can’t pass up Beauty and the Beast. It’s the best everything ever!)

I loved the concept and the art was pretty. Good art is always important when reading any kind of comic book in my opinion. I will say Belle looked nothing like Emma Watson but whatever I can get over that.

The big let down here was the manga left me wanting more. It felt so brief and rushed I didn’t get much emotion from the characters. I know the tale very well so I had a good idea of what the characters were feeling going in, but I had to pull from my own knowledge of the story and not what was actually depicted in the manga.

So in the end I had to give it 3 stars. But if you love Beauty and the Beast as much as I do then you might want to give it a go. If nothing else it will look good with your collection of fairy tales. Do you have one of those? Because I do:)
