The other day I spied these plain canvas shoes for $6 and pounced! I have been wanting to make some fun custom shoes for a while now and was just waiting for a pair that was cheap enough. (I’m afraid that I just can’t pay more than $10 for something I’m just going to redo.)

I started with a pink Sharpie and made a simple little design on the side. I didn’t really have a plan, I just knew the colors I wanted. Plus I’m not much of an artist, just an enthusiastic doodler!

I then busted out my watercolor set and went to work. I love watercolors, and the canvas took the paint really well. I just got the paint wet and brushed it on. No special technique required. The shoes didn’t even get that wet and were dry by the time I finished breakfast.

So there you have it! A DIY project that takes hardly any time and is super cute. This was so easy I’m ready to go back and get a second pair to paint up. Maybe I will make a Batman pair!

And an added bonus…when it rains, it swirls! (I may make that my new life motto…)

Hahaha! That’s cute:) I used Scotchguard on them so hopefully no swirling.
